01  /  LEADERSHIP

Leadership
& expertise

Running complex mechanical work needs direction from someone who has done it. Technical authority here is not delegated upward.

02

Leadership philosophy

Engineering authority is not a title. It is earned by having been on the tools, having got it wrong once, and having built the discipline that stops it happening again.

Crawford RigMech is run on that basis. Scope is set by people who understand what the work actually involves, so commitments made to clients are ones the crew can keep. Safety and delivery are not treated as competing pressures — a job that is organised well enough to be safe is usually the job that finishes on time.

Decisions at every level are calibrated against the same question: will this hold up when the equipment is running and nobody is watching?

CORE DIRECTIVES

The standards work is judged against

Uncompromising reliability

Work scoped honestly and finished to the method agreed. If it cannot be done in the window, we say so before the job starts.

Safety as structure

Risk controls built into how the job is organised, not bolted on as paperwork afterwards.

Engineering precision

Alignment, clearance and torque verified against a figure and recorded — never signed off by eye.

Evidence over opinion

Condition established by measurement. Recommendations follow the finding, not the other way round.

05  /  EXPERTISE

Technical domains

The disciplines leadership is accountable for

DOM // 01

Rotating equipment

Pumps, compressors, gearboxes and drive systems — overhaul, alignment and performance testing.

DOM // 02

Mechanical engineering

Design, failure investigation, component specification and modification engineering.

DOM // 03

Offshore & rig support

Deck machinery, handling equipment and mechanical work under offshore access constraints.

DOM // 04

Fabrication & machining

Structural steel, pipework, welding to procedure and machining of replacement components.

DOM // 05

Maintenance strategy

Criticality assessment, service interval definition and planned maintenance programmes.

DOM // 06

Project delivery

Shutdown planning, mobilisation, manning and documented handover.

We do not guess. We measure, we record it, and we hand it over. Equipment does not care what anyone believed.

07  /  CULTURE

How the team works

Small, technical and directly accountable. Everyone on a job knows what the hold points are and who signs them.

  • Technicians briefed on the method before mobilisation, not on arrival
  • Stop-work authority held by every person on the job, without exception
  • Findings recorded as they are made, not reconstructed afterwards
  • Scope changes raised immediately and in writing
  • Handover documentation completed before the crew leaves site
  • Lessons from a failure fed back into the next method statement

08 / DIRECT LINE

Initiate a technical dialogue.

Contested scope, a schedule that will not hold, or a mechanical problem nobody has closed out — bring it to leadership directly.
