Mechanical Engineering
Design, analysis and technical support for mechanical systems operating under real industrial loads.
02 / OVERVIEW
Crawford RigMech works on heavy mechanical systems — pumps, compressors, gearboxes, valves, drive systems and the structures that carry them.
We are brought in when equipment is failing, when a shutdown window has to be met, or when a mechanical problem has outlasted the attempts to fix it. The work is scoped honestly, executed to a written method, and handed back documented — so the next person to open the machine starts from evidence rather than guesswork.

03 / CAPABILITIES
Eight mechanical disciplines, delivered on your site or in the workshop
Design, analysis and technical support for mechanical systems operating under real industrial loads.
Mechanical support for drilling and production equipment, on rig and in the yard.
Corrective and planned maintenance on rotating and static mechanical equipment.
Structural and pipework fabrication, welding and machining to drawing.
Scheduled inspection and servicing programmes built around your actual equipment list.
Setting, aligning and commissioning mechanical equipment into live plant.
Condition assessment and inspection of mechanical equipment and structures.
Embedded mechanical engineering capability for teams without it in-house.
04 / WORKSHOP & FIELD
Some work belongs on a controlled workshop floor: strip-down, inspection, machining, rebuild and test. Some cannot leave the asset at all. We work both ways — and the decision is made on what protects the schedule, not on what is convenient.
Overhaul, machining, rebuild, test
Repair, alignment, installation, callout
05 / THE BENCHMARK
Not because of a slogan. Because the work holds up, the paperwork exists, and the next intervention is easier than the last one.
Work scoped honestly and completed to the method agreed. No surprises at handover.
Permit-to-work, toolbox talks and stop-work authority applied on every job, every shift.
Alignment, tolerance and torque verified and recorded — not estimated by eye.
Mobilisation planned around your shutdown window, including unplanned breakdown attendance.
Mechanical technicians who have worked the equipment, not just read the manual.
Inspection and test points defined before work starts and signed off as they are passed.
Every intervention is planned around one objective — the asset running again, and staying running, inside the window that protects production.
The operator's production target is carried as our own. The work is judged by whether the equipment holds up after we leave site.
06 / SECTORS
Heavy mechanical systems behave the same way whoever owns them
Drilling support, production equipment and pressure systems across upstream and midstream operations.
Rotating equipment, turbine auxiliaries and balance-of-plant mechanical systems.
Production line machinery, conveying systems and plant mechanical infrastructure.
Hydraulic systems, gearboxes, drivetrains and structural repair on heavy plant.
Pumps, compressors, valves and pipework serving continuous process operations.
Deck machinery, mooring equipment and offshore structural mechanical support.
07 / METHOD
The same eight stages on a two-day repair and a full overhaul. The depth changes. The sequence does not.
Site attendance, condition survey and failure analysis. We establish what the equipment is actually doing before anyone proposes a fix.
Technical solution defined against the operating envelope — loads, tolerances, materials and access constraints.
Method statement, risk assessment, parts, tooling and manning scheduled against your shutdown window.
Work carried out by mechanical technicians under a written procedure, with hold points recorded as they are passed.
Components installed to the written method — alignment, clearances and torque set against the drawing, with hold points signed as they are passed.
Controlled start-up and function checks under operating conditions, before the asset is declared ready.
Function testing, alignment verification and performance checks before the asset is handed back.
Documented completion — what was found, what was done, what was replaced, and what to watch.
08 / STANDARD
Every job leaves a record: what was found, what was done, what was measured and what to watch next.
09 / WORD OF MOUTH
The work is judged after we leave site — by whether the asset holds up and whether the record holds together.
Crawford RigMech kept our shutdown on schedule and handed everything back documented. The next intervention started from evidence, not guesswork.
